The timers for building, upgrading, & recruiting are inaccurate. They may say it will take 20 minutes, but when timed against a stopwatch, they really take 22 or 25 minutes (on rare cases sometimes less). Along with this, they are often counting down and then set themselves back 3-5 seconds (e.g. 10, 9, 8, 7, 10, 9,…) |

Maths for food production at a farm don’t work out. Have a Level 4 farm (18/hr basic production), 4 adjacent open plains (+25% each), one Level 6 Cottage (+30%), one lake (+50%), and one Level 3 Mill (+40%) for a total increase of 220%. The total production is 87/hr, but for the life of me I can’t figure out why. I’ve tried every way I can think of to add up those numbers, but they never equal 87. EDIT: This seems to be related to building-specific support structures (i.e. sawmills, stonemasons, foundries, and mills). The bonuses from these buildings are not calculated correctly in the production of the buildings they are supporting. Not a bug. Buildings whose bonuses are limited are calculated separately, after unlimited bonuses. |

When one assigns a building to a Building Minister due to lack of resources, the only way to learn which specific resources, in which specific quantities, are required to convert the building to normal status is to cancel the build and look it up while attempting to requeue it. One should be able to do this instead by clicking on the box for the unconverted building in the queue. There should also be a grand total showing the specific resources needed to convert ALL non-resourced buildings to normal status. |

This feature will allow alliance leaders to easily merge their alliances to avoid the hassle of making a new alliance where all the current members will have to rejoin through invitation.
This section describes the procedure. A leader is defined here as the 1st or 2nd leader. A leader sends an invitation to an alliance they wish to merge with and all leaders of both alliances receive a “Vote [Alliance Name] Alliance Merge” report. Under Alliance, a button is available where the leaders vote for the merger. All votes are required to be accept to continue the procedure, otherwise the merge is reported as failed and disappears. When successful, the 1st leaders cast their vote for Alliance Leader. This has to agree to an individual, otherwise the Alliance Leader vote repeats until they agree or a leader cancels the merger. The newly appointed Alliance Leader is prompted for the merged alliance’s properties. The 1st leaders who are not appointed as Alliance Leader become 2nd leaders. Once the new properties are entered, all leaders are automatically joined into the new merged alliance. The description is defaulted to be blank. All forums, announcements, diplomacy and invitations are merged. Players ranked below leader are not automatically joined into the new alliance. These players are informed of the merger by report and are given the option to join the newly merged alliance or to stay within their old alliance under Alliance, this is not counted as an invitation. If they join the merged alliance they retain their member status.
The reason for the leaders automatically joining the new alliance is to entice the old alliances to join the new one. The reason for those of officer and lower being required to agree to joining the new alliance is to extent the complexity of alliance relations within the Ultima world.

When two players plan to trade resources, expectations should be exchanged through the graphical interface, updated by both players, and then accepted by both players before any resources are sent by either player. This would increase trust in the market and would keep deceptive individuals from breaking promises on traded resources.
The addition of promising unit support in exchange for resources would be a bonus.

A system that allows people to post resource exchange requests and trade resources . This will promote resource trade without the need to spam chat channels, or stay logged in. Sufficient transportation (carts or ships) will be needed to post a trade request for that resource, travel time to the viewing player’s city will be calculated based on the transportation type and that vehicle(s) will not be available for direct trading until the exchange has been completed or canceled. Buyer will have to provide sufficient transportation for the resources he offers as part of the trade.

An auction house system allowing people to place bids on resources, army units and artifacts in the resource of seller’s choice, instead of gold. This will prevent gold from becoming the primary currency in the game, and being devalued as it’s collected in taxes from townhouses, or as everyone tries to convert their resources into this non-plunderable currency.

Add arrows on the region map containing progress bars and arrival times to intuitively indicate to players the progress of the following events:
- Going to raid.
- Returning from raid.
- Outgoing trade.
- Incoming trade.
- Assaults/Sieges/Pillages incoming.
- Assaults/Sieges/Pillages outgoing.
- Alliance Assaults/Sieges/Pillages incoming.
- Alliance Assaults/Sieges/Pillages outgoing.
These event arrows would only be displayed for a player’s own cities.

When the /w [playerName] [message] is used in the chat box, a separate tab should open up next to the All and Alliance chat tabs. Conversations within this tab will only be directed to the intended party.
This should spare the embarrassment of accidentally leaking tactical information to the public chat from a mistype of /w [playerName] [message] and would keep trade talk off of the main chat log.

Players should be able to create a private chat tab where they can invite any players they want to have a private conversation with. Multiple private tabs should be featured to sort out ongoing conversations where the player can make the name. To inform the player when a new response is made while he/she is browsing other tabs, the private tab title should bold. This feature should be activated by typing “/p [tabName] [playerName1;playerName2;etc]” where all players automatically have the private tab appear along their tab if logged in. When activated, the private chat tab window should show all players that have successfully joined. A player can leave anytime by typing “/p exit” where the window will inform the players still active in the private tab of their leave.
In argument against the suggested Private Whisper Chat Tab above, this system will prevent flooding of the player’s tab if they want to whisper to multiple players individually for an extremely brief conversation.

Players should be permitted to quickly move the map to coordinates of interest from a non intrusive text box located along the top of the screen. Currently, players must access the Command and Trade dialog menus to snap to a set of coordinates with the requisite dialog menu obscuring the coordinates in question.

Currently relationship status between Alliances can not be confirmed by both sides. While this open-ended option allows Alliances to spring ambushes and enact backstabbing, an initial confirmation of relations between the Alliances can solidify alliances.
Only a simple notification is needed.
For example:
Alliance A sets Alliance B to Enemy
Alliance B receives an alert that notify of the change in relations.

Players should be permitted to store a list of favourite coordinates, with annotation, that they could click on to be taken to on the world map. This would allow players to ‘bookmark’ cities of friends and foes, dungeons, sites where they want to set up a new city, etc…

It would be very usefull to see directly on the map without moving the mouse onto the city to see the relationship with this city. I would suggest flags like there are already one on your villages.

Monsters should wander from the dungeons and attack neighboring villages to challenge a towns defenses. Their speed statistic would determine the time to travel from a nearby dungeon and their loot statistic would determine the reward given to the successful defender.
This would have to somehow be balanced with the random dispersion of dungeons and the high level of new players adding to every continent.

A report of resources sent/received should indicate the quantity and type of resource involved. The last (10) resource trades with the other player should be listed. This information will encourage trade “agreements” and maintain a sense of the level of aid one player has offered another. Additional details where this trade may be related to the suggestions of “Two-Way Trading Agreements” above could also be included.

Optional customization for city- and troop-skins should be available in the item shop. They should just change the graphics, stats und unit-types should be the same. Examples:
- Undead skin
- Orkish skin
- Dwarfen skin
- Bandit skin

There should be a way to get rid of X units and replace them with better units or different units (changing rangers for cavalry or the opposite.

Personally, the ministers would be a better value if they were an “account upgrade.” I could see more people paying for diamonds if this was a persistent benefit to their account instead of a 7-day or 90-day benefit. Granted, I haven’t bought one yet, and maybe I don’t realize their true strength/advantages, but given the textual descriptions of them, I wouldn’t buy them for a limited time period, but would definitely be interested in adding them permanently, even if at an increased cost.

In addition to a customizable reports interface (which reports you recieve) an optional email alert for each report would be fantastic! Since this game is often a “leave it and let it go” type of game, being able to recieve an alert when a particular building, raid, or other event has completed to let us know we can log back in and complete our next steps would be extremely useful. Something a little more helpful than “You have a new report.” What type of report as a subject and the text of the report in the email body would be fantastic.

In addition to “Easy Retrieval of Player Information” and “Coordinates Browser in Regional Map” I would like to see a search field that would let me look for particular players/cities/alliances and obtain their pertinent information. The obvious place to put this would be in the rankings list, and would give me all the functionality needed for this enhancement, but it would be nice to have it in the regional map as well. Overworld Map would be good to see nice spots for new cities, like near the ocean, or allies.

The ability to zoom in and out on the region map aswell as the city map would have numerous benefits for gameplay and useability.
1) On smaller monitors/resolutions you cannot see as much of your city, so zooming out would be of great use.
2) Zooming out on the world map would give a much better overview of where you are in relation to others and if other improvements such as colour coded highlights for allies/enemies etc were implemented you would easily be able to see the advance of your alliance in a graphical manner.
3) The zoom function would facilitate the location of dungeons, oceans, etc. Briefly, it would be handy as a Baron to have a map of your whole continent handy!
4) On smaller resolutions —- and especially in Safari browsers, for some reason —- the scrolling speed in the city view is actually quite slow. Changing focus from the west side of your city to the east side is a non-intuitive process that requires either holding a button for an extended period, or 5-6 sweeps of a touchpad or mouse. A zoom feature would be a significant functional benefit for those players that have difficulty getting around their city. If one could zoom the city out 4x, one would only have to move the mouse once to click on a building on the other side of one’s city.

Players would be enthusiastic about the ability to modify their personal profile settings in a game like this one, and to have those profiles viewable by other players clicking on their cities. Although the concrete information about any city is best left to spies, a brief biography, profile artwork, and perhaps even a selection of flags that members of the same alliance could adopt collectively would be a big hit.
It would add an interesting element to alliances and trade organizations, as well; at present, if two players are equally appealing targets for plunder, there is no principled reason to choose one over the other. Having a sense of who your neighbours are —- in lore terms, hearing rumours about the temper of the baron next door —- would give players some sense of who they might wish to attack, and who they might wish to court for alliance. It would certainly be interesting to get e-mail from strangers saying they think you’d fit in with their alliance.

Lord of Ultima is a social game. Most of us playing the beta (and those that will play the game after release) are brought into the game by friends. Queued assignment to new continents is necessary to prevent overpopulation, but its effect is that we are best served ignoring our friends and allying ourselves with proximate strangers. Of course, if this is done, we lose the capacity to communicate through alliance chat.
In other massively multiplayer games, this problem was addressed with the ability to undertake a server transfer. Established alliances pulled up stakes to populate a new realm, and those that stayed had room to expand. Overpopulation sorted itself out; players want a balance between overcrowding and nothing-to-do syndrome, and given the ability, will strike that balance themselves. In this game, it might be more reasonable to allow us to perform a “city exodus” —- to pick up stakes and take our whole city elsewhere, if only as a one-time option. It’s entirely likely that this would mitigate, rather than exacerbating the overpopulation problem; alliances are swiss-cheese models at present, and it’s likely that many alliances will choose to relocate to an unpopulated continent.
Naturally, this couldn’t be an ‘anytime’ option; that would frustrate the purpose of consolidating an alliance and taking over nearby cities. At present, however, many players brought into the game by friends are going to be in a situation where they have a few cities close to each other and to the members of their alliance —- and one very large city continents away. A one-time exodus option would prevent this strange ‘colony’ situation and its attendant frustrations and social disruption.

An application that would allow you to maintain reports, set upgrade, recruitment, or trade orders. Might be difficult to replicate the full functionality of the game, but at least would improve reporting would be nice.

The Other Offers currently displays for how much someone is willing to sell their goods. Either reverse this and make offers be for how much someone is willing to PAY for your goods or add the ability to request goods.
The mechanic and name is confusing.

Allow players to create a heritage crest or seal in the form of a flag. Show on regional map when you mouse over the city, a banner of the players flag or alliance will appear. Perhaps this could be incorporated into the alliance / regional view in place of the radio button icons showing the color codes.

World View. you can see there is a continent and the basic features, but you don’t know what castles or features are located in that location until you have scouted that area.
Regional view,
Same thing, basic terrain is visible but castles and dungeons are not present, until scouted.
Alliance
Alliances can scout territories and share those reports with the entire alliance.
Expansion is limited to only the scouted areas. So if someone wants to travel to a new location they would have to scout it out first, to make sure it is a viable settlement location before traveling.
Ability to capture scouts for information. If you have been scouted by another player, depending on your defenses you can gather information from the captured scout of the general location of that players location.
Options 1: 10 Block Radius of possible locations
Options 2: 5 block radius of possible locations
Options 3: Exact location was revealed.
Further scouting would reveal resources and strengths.
Benefits, more difficult to expand greater distances. More challenges, in not knowing who is located around you or in your territory. Identities of shrines, moon gates, and dungeons will be up to the alliance members to scout the terrain first.

When curious about the pertinent information regarding a player’s city position, rank, et cetera, there should be an easy system of retrieval.
At the moment, an individual must browse through the player names in the rankings page to find this information.
It is suggested that right clicking on a players name in chat would bring up this page and perhaps also give players the ability to whisper, write addressed mail, and find coordinates quickly and easily.

A very simple change, to make large numbers more readable.
4,103,323 is much easier to read than 4103323
ADD +/- TO BUILDING ICONS FOR UPGRADE/DOWNGRADE OF A BUILDING.
Managing the building process with many cities is extremely time consuming. Having to select the building and then select the upgrade button requires more mouse movement than is necessary.
The suggestion is to add a some indictaion for upgrade/downgrade next to the building lvl number. When clicked, the upgrade is added to the building queue.
Possible make this feature only available once a certain number of cities have been obtained (but why penalize the newbies) or only available if the building minister is active.
STANDARD SERVER TIME
There should be a standard server time clock in the top of the screen.
An alliance member posted for support stating he would be scouted at 20:40. Based on my computer his post came up as being sent at 6.30am when in actual fact it was 8.30pm his time. So he was scouted before my troops got there.
Also there is no way for me to cancel the supporting scouts and have them return.
-suggestion by medran… perhaps a better view instead of absolute time would be time remaining for incoming support or incomming attacks, ect.

SHARED ALLIANCE MANA
We are getting totally overrun by a player/alliance. It doesnt make for good gameplay. I would like to suggest that the developers of this game make mana an alliance pool, where individual players don’t get much mana. That way there will be motivation for players with lots of diamons to allign with players that have no diamonds, creating a better environment for strategy and competition, instead of the diamond heavy alliances that occur now.

ALLIANCE HANDICAP
Instead of the current morale system the game should use alliance handicap, whereby the handicap is determined by the amount of resources(pure and normal) that the alliance has amassed. The reason to use resources instead of buildings is someone could have a very large army without having a large city score which is currently a way around the morale issue. The reason to make this global to the alliance is because this is a team game and its not entirely relevant that the attacking player is weak if the whole alliance is quite strong. The two alliances handicap would be differenced and the weaker alliance would get a bonus.
